Dr. Alan Young is a native of Garner, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and received his BS degree majoring in Exercise Science,
sub-specializing in exercise physiology with a chemistry minor. In 1995, Dr. Young obtained his DDS degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and moved back to his hometown to begin his dental career.

In his 12 years at Garner, Dr. Young attended post-graduate continuing education courses on orthodontics (braces), oral surgery (wisdom teeth), periodontal surgery (gum surgery), endodontics (root canals) and implants. He uses these skills so that he can limit the number of out-of-office referrals. Most people like to go to
a place where the doctor can do all their work.

In 2008, Dr. Young moved his family to Waverly to begin a solo practice. Being in a large dental practice back in Garner, the personal relationships were limited. Dr. Young is making it a point that anyone who walks through his doors is not just a patient, but a person who he wants to get to know.

Dr. Young and his wife, Jody, have two daughters, Kelsey and Britney. He enjoys working with his hands in construction projects and cooking. As far as other interests, Dr. Young enjoys biking, golf, movies, going out with family/friends, and spending quality time with
his family.
